To begin the meeting, RESA board members Francisco and Isidore introduced a presentation on real estate development, centered on the concept of having an "Eye for Opportunity". They explained that in a competitive and high-risk industry, success often comes down to the ability to analyze situations critically, recognize potential where others might only see challenges, and act decisively.

What truly set this event apart was welcoming Todd Nepola, a respected figure in the real estate industry. From the start, Todd captured the attention of FIU students by breaking down how to take the very first steps in real estate. He emphasized the importance of beginning with action rather than waiting for the “perfect moment,” explaining how even small moves can open doors to big opportunities. His approachable style and real-life stories gave students a clear sense of how success in this field is built from the ground up.

As the session continued, Todd shared practical advice on what it truly takes to grow in the real estate business. He spoke about discipline, consistency, and the value of building strong networks early in one’s career. For many students, it was a wake-up call that professional growth doesn’t just happen in the classroom, it requires initiative, curiosity, and the willingness to step outside of comfort zones. His insights gave our members a roadmap not just for real estate, but for personal and professional development in any industry.

To wrap up the evening, Todd opened the floor for an engaging Q&A session where students asked everything from how to find mentors to strategies for managing risk in the real estate market. He responded to each question with honesty and depth, leaving the audience with practical advice and renewed motivation. The highlight of the night came when two students asked Todd if he would personally mentor them... and he said YES. As a final surprise, Todd gifted every attendee a free copy of his book “Keeping It Real on Commercial Real Estate,” giving them not only inspiration from the event but also a lasting resource to continue learning long after the meeting. This unforgettable moment showcased the true value of RESA: connecting students with leaders who inspire, educate, and actively invest in the next generation of professionals.
